We had the luxury of staying in the Throston Suite after a little mishap with the room booking, but the 2 chaps on the desk were amazing. Luv and Rich, and they actually upgraded us to the suite as an apology. These guys were so lovely and went above and beyond to make our stay more memorable. Thank you, guys. The last time we stayed at The Grand was 38 years ago, and we were very impressed with the hotel even after all those years. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, a massive double shower in the massive bathroom. Everything we needed, including ironing board and hairdryer, refreshments tray, and TV. We had been informed that the hotel was being used for immigrants and also reading it on some social media posts. This is absolutely not the case. I find it very sad that some people come out with these horrid lies . Was it to actually try and scare people away or to just try and damage the hotels reputation? Who knows, but it's shocking. I would recommend people to go in for a drink in the lovely bar and look around the ballroom if you want to hold an event or even for your wedding. It's fantastic. There is so much to offer. Our experience was only finding that this amazing hotel is still beautiful and has so much to offer. The hotel was built in 1899, and it's a superb building with the original features. It's an asset for Hartlepool to keep and treasure it. Everything for our 4 day stay was amazing. All the staff were friendly, chatty and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. I would also recommend the Mumbai restaurant downstairs. Superb food.

Room was big and comfortable and very clean. It was also very quiet throughout our stay. We did not have breakfast as we do not normally eat breakfast. Location was great for the shopping centre and other amenities such as the docks/museum and within a 10 min walk to the sea front. Local beaches at Seaton and Crimdon by car are easy to get too. The India Restaurant a joined to the hotel served lovely food and the staff were lovely and very welcoming so much so that we went twice during our stay.

Jackie

The staff were so lovely I've stayed in many hotels and these staff are the most friendliest efficient staff I've ever dealt with. Nothing was too much trouble even though only 2 members of staff were working covering bar, reception and basically everything bless them. My own fault with the hotel.it was too hot even having 2 fans could not help we were melting getting ready and also radiators were warn and couldn't turn them off. None of the windows opened neither...

Andi

Room was massive, the bed was huge, sound proofing was good . I loved the led mirror in the bathroom. Breakfast was nice but limited for vegan. Some scrambled tofu or some type of fish would have been nice as I don’t eat any meat, eggs or cheese. The location was perfect, bus stops are outside and opposite the hotel. The Middleton shopping mall is right opposite the hotel. The staff were really helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my stay.

Anita

The staff are great, very friendly can't do enough for you. Mayleigh on reception was lovely and help us enormously. She works incredibly hard and it very multi tasking. There were issues with hot water & hotel were going to cancel the room but sorted another room & gave us a great discount, it was much appreciated, we were meant to be in a double double suite but were were moved to a family which was completely adequate and roomy.
